This video shows the mercury vapour coming out of a mercury filling of a molar just been extracted. Mercury has been demonstrated as being a serious neurotoxic agent. For this reason we encourage all the patients to make an assessment to evaluate the possibiilty to replace the amalgam with an biocompatible material like ceramics or composites.
The capsules for an amalgam contains approximately 50% mercury and 50% silver alloy.
WARNING Ingestion: may cause Neurotoxic Nephrotoxic effects. Inhalation: may cause Bronchiolitis, Pneumonitis Pulmonary Edema. Eye & Skin: May cause redness and irritation to eyes and skin. Acute Exposure: May cause sensitization dermatitis and possible visual disturbances.
